Excerpt	The aim of this paper is to present the characteristics of the authority of the Genovese in the colony of Mitilene. The author starts his study from the example of the doge Francesco I Gattiliusio, by presenting the stages and the forms of his authority in Mitilene, analyzing also the political and social influence of the neighboring states.
