Excerpt The author publish a Roman republican dinar cast in a low quality silver alloy, found in the area of town of lsperih (distr. of Razgrad, North-Eastern Bulgaria). It is an imitation of a dinar dated from the end of 2nd century A.D. or the 1st half of the 1st century A.D. The coin was locally produced, very likely in the area of the important Daco-Getian settlement from the surroundings of the villages of Sveštari and Malăk Porovec, where previously was found cast silvered imitations of the drachms of the Greek city of Dyrrachium, as well as struck imitations of the Roman Republican dinars.
The coin found in the area of the town of lsperih proves that the imitations of the Roman republican dinars were produced both in the area situated northward and southward of the Danube. In some cases, instead of the classical technology of the striking, the local mints used the easier and cheaper process of the casting to produce such coins.
