Excerpt In this article, the author presents 44 Late Roman and Byzantine imperial seals discovered in Dobrudja. The Seals presented here have been discovered in several ancient settlements (Durostorum, Tomis, Noviodunum, Sucidava, Păcuiul lui Soare etc.) and were issued by the imperial court since the fourth century. The 44 pieces are of two types; 24 imperial seals, theses seals are used to seal official documents and correspondence; 20 of them are commercial imperial seals used for sealing goods produced in the imperial workshops or had imperial monopoly. Their importance is enormous because they show the relationships between the Danube province and the capital of the Empire.
