Excerpt | In the spring of 2018, a passionate for metal detection, discovered with his own detector a number of 29 coins and coin fragments, (five made of copper, the rest of them made of silver). He detected them on a relatively narrow surface, named “Between borders”, on a country road, between Fetindia and Meseşenii de Jos, from Sălaj County. After we have got the research authorization, we started to dig an area of 2.00 x 2.00 m. Hereby, there were discovered 37 more coins and fragmentary coins, made from silver. The coins from this hoard were issued in Transylvania, Austria, Styria, Salzburg, Württenberg-Oels, Hungary, Tyrol, Bohemia, Silesia, Montfort, Liegnitz-Brieg, Brandenburg-Bayreuth and Breslau Episcopate. The hoard consists of 3 Kreuzer, Poltures, 1 Kreuzer and 3 Phennings coins, which were issued between 1627 and 1762. |
